FAQ

Straight answers about shifts, pay and tips

Tips, without the guesswork

Venues add tips when they approve the timesheet. Digital tips use one final charge, workers receive 90%, and Barmatch keeps 10%.

What is the 3.9% card and platform fee?

The venue pays a 3.9% card and platform fee on the full Barmatch card total, including shift charges, Barmatch fees, and any digital tip. The estimated portion is charged when the worker is booked; any increase is added at final settlement.

Is the booking card and platform fee refundable?

No. The 3.9% amount charged when a worker is booked is always non-refundable. If the final card total is higher, only the additional fee amount is added at settlement.

How long does a venue have to approve a timesheet?

A venue has 12 hours after submission to approve or dispute it. If the venue does nothing, Barmatch auto-approves the shift when the window closes.

When can a venue add a tip?

Only while approving the timesheet during the 12-hour window. The tip and shift payout are confirmed together, and a tip can't be added later.

How do digital tips work?

The venue adds the tip at approval. The digital tip joins the final shift charge, 90% goes to the worker, and Barmatch keeps a 10% tip fee.

Are cash tips allowed?

Yes. The venue can select Cash at approval and mark the full amount paid. Cash isn't added to the Barmatch charge, and Barmatch doesn't take a fee from it.

Do tips replace hourly pay?

No. Tips are always separate from the posted base wage and never reduce the worker's shift pay.

Are tips guaranteed?

No. A posting or conversation never guarantees a tip. A tip becomes part of the record only when the venue approves the timesheet.

What does the worker see?

The worker sees base shift pay, the gross digital tip, Barmatch's 10% tip fee, and the worker's 90% tip amount. Cash tips appear as paid in full.

What if the venue disputes the hours?

The payout and any tip are paused while the timesheet is reviewed. The venue must give a reason during the same 12-hour window.

What happens after auto-approval?

The approved base payout proceeds without a tip. The venue cannot add a tip after the 12-hour window has closed.

How are payments protected?

Stripe processes card payments and worker payouts. Barmatch records amounts and payment status but doesn't store full card numbers.

What does Ruby know about tips?

Ruby explains the 12-hour approval window, the one-charge digital tip flow, the 90/10 split, cash tips, and where each person can see the breakdown.
